Make a friend - catch a fish!

We are excited to announce our new 2-3 hour fishing trips for kids on the spectrum.

Each trip will have a parent and child meet-up with another family and learn to fish, enjoy the outdoors while working on social development. As a parent of a child with ASD, I am sensitive to some of the challenges kids on the spectrum have.

My experience as a guide and a dad has taught me that being outside, obtaining goals and meeting new kids in a quiet and relaxing environment can be greatly beneficial and create fantastic memories for the parent and child!

Family Fish School

New to fishing? Looking to see if you or your family or a group of friends want to pick up a new sport? We offer a learn to fish package at several locations across Ottawa. With the package you will receive 2 fishing rods, line and a starter tackle box. During the session you will learn how to put line on a reel, how to tie the most popular fishing knots, how to cast, how to set the hook and fight fish. You and your family will learn how to unhook fish to ensure proper release. We will also cover best catch and release practices, conservation tips and learn all about the many different species that live in the Nation’s Capital.

Dates for our fish session will be posted in the new year and will be limited to 5 families.

 Welcome to Rising Sun Charters! 

I am so excited to provide a memorable experience for you as part of your guided fishing trip! 

Here are a few items to help you prepare for epic angling trip. We use both conventional and fly fishing gear. We can help you catch fish the way you want!

1. WATERS GUIDED - Ottawa River, Rideau River, Madawaska River, St Lawrence River and numerous smaller lakes. Where we fish together will depend on recent fishing reports, weather conditions and your time available.
   

2. SPECIES - Muskies, Longnose Gar, Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Panfish, Sauger, Drum and Catfish. Please note that all Longnose Gar and Muskie must be released. Trophy replica mounts available upon request. 

RISING SUN CHARTERS WILL PROVIDE:

• Professional and educational experience on the water with over 30 years experience fishing local waters

• All rods, reels, and tackle provided (Feel free to bring your favorite lure and rod)

• Quality photos of all of your catches! 

• Life jackets and all safety equipment

• Cooler with ice and drinks of your choice (non-alcoholic)

• Quality Dad jokes

• Fishing license

• Snacks, lunch

• Sunscreen

• Proper clothing for the weather (please check the local forecast)

• PFA! ( Positive Fishing Attitude)

DEPOSIT - $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. Please note trips cancelled less then 48 hours before will be subject to 100 percent cancellation fee. The captain reserves the right to cancel or rebook depending on the weather conditions.
